Project Update 2

2 April 2025

We are pleased to share with you our second bulletin update on the progress of the Crisis & Emergency Response Reform Project. We continue progressing through Stage 1: System Design, with our current focus on workshop engagement.

Project activities in the past fortnight

Service System Design Workshops

Following on from the completion of our Service System Design Discussion Paper, we are pleased to have commenced our first phase of engagement activities. At this stage, we have conducted 5 workshops, and will complete our remaining sessions over the next week.

As we reach the end of this phase, we will have gained insights and expertise from the following cohorts:

  • A range of frontline professionals, including Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police
  • AMHS professionals across inner metro, outer metro, and regional Victoria
  • Community mental health professionals
  • Lived/living experience and service users across metro and regional Victoria
  • Government, systems and advocacy professionals
  • First Nations professionals and service users

As our workshops continue, we will start identifying key themes that emerge from our discussions. These themes will help guide our thematic analysis process and insight reporting.

How you can provide input

System design framework – have your say

Through this survey, you can still provide input on our System Design Framework, which is included in our Service System Design Discussion Paper (as attached) (pp.10-11).

A reminder of the questions we are seeking to address:

  • What responses should be available in the future state, and who should respond?
  • What roles should stakeholders play?
  • What are the pathways between services?
  • What must be in place to achieve the intended vision?

The survey will close EOD on Sunday, 6th April.

What’s next?

Following Stage 1 workshop and our completion of thematic analysis and reporting, we will commence the more detailed service design for the new or enhanced crisis services (telehealth, crisis outreach, crisis stabilisation, safe spaces, and clinical assistance) . We will work closely with the sector to further develop the new and redesigned services.

Please subscribe to the platform updates to make sure you hear about further opportunities to be involved in the design process, or email engagement@impactco.au for more information about how you and/or your organisation can be involved.
