Project Update 9

21 July 2025

We are pleased to share our ninth bulletin update on the progress of the Crisis & Emergency Response Reform Project.

With our engagement and consultation activities now complete, we are shifting focus to cohort-specific engagement summaries, service design iteration and refinement, and reporting activities.

Project activities in the past fortnight

Lived and Living Experience Engagement Summary

Throughout our System Design (Phase 2) and Service Design (Phase 3) engagement series, we were privileged to meet with multiple groups of consumers, carers, family members and supporters with lived and living experience (LLE) via the LLE-specific workshops.

These participants generously shared their experiences of using the current crisis service response, including access to care, treatment and support, escalation and de-escalation, and referral pathways. Their experiences reflecting a diversity of intersecting needs and perspectives.

In recognition of the significance of these contributions, we are pleased to attach the LLE Consultation Summary to this bulletin.

We welcome your reflections and encourage you to provide written responses through this survey to the following questions

  • Are the insights outlined in the paper aligned with your own perspectives?
  • Are there additional perspectives you would like to contribute to the design process?

Next steps

Over the next fortnight, we will continue building our understanding of cohort-specific crisis experiences through the development of additional engagement summaries. These will include a First Nations engagement summary and a sector-wide service design consultation summary. At the same time, we will continue to work closely with the Department of Health to advance our crisis service model design thinking.
